The James Mattox that was the brother of Simon Peter Mattox was the son of Peter Mattox. They were in Logan County, OH in 1850 census and by 1860 Peter and family had moved to Mahaska County, Iowa. Most of his children followed him there. Have reason to believe that Peter was born in PA.
