Looking for info about Mary KISCH, who married Conrad SAUTER (of Peosta) 17
Jan 1864 (Dubuque County Marriage Records). This marriage was solemnized by
Rev. John Fendrich. Does anybody know what Catholic church this would have
been? I've been told Rev. Fendrich was at St. Mary's from 1860-1864.

Conrad & Mary [KISCH] SAUTER appear in the 1870 Federal Census for Peosta,
Dubuque County. Mary is listed as 23 years old, "keeping house," and born
in "Bavaria." Conrad is listed as 29, "stone mason," and born in Ohio, with
father and mother foreign-born. Two children are listed: "Katie" age 5,
born in Iowa; and "William" age 3, born in Iowa. Conrad would have been
born about 1841; and Mary [KISCH] would have been born about 1847.

Mary KISCH may have been a sister to Catherine/"Kate" KISCH, who married
Peter OETH, 9 March 1861, St. Mary Church, Dubuque. Their first child,
Maria Catherine, was baptized 17 Jan 1864, St. Mary's, with godparents:
Andrea[sic] OETH and A. Maria KIESCH[sic]. The 24 Mar 1925 obit for
Catherine [KISCH] OETH say she was "born in Trier, Germany, February 24,
eighty-five years ago and came to this country with her parents when ten
years old. For two years the family lived in Syracuse, N.Y." Thus she
would have been born 1840. Her mother's name was Antoinette (maiden name
unknown). Her father's name is unknown.

You can read more about these KISCH and OETH families in the "Lang Family
History" at my website.
