Hi Everyone,

I am helping a friend research a THOMAS HYSLOP (from Kirkermel, Scotland, not sure of spelling) who married an ESTHER BELFORD (from Fermanagh, Northern Ireland) on 10/8/1868 in Brant Twp, Bruce County, Ontario, Canada. Her surname could also be BELFOUR. Thomas's parents are listed on the marriage reg. as Thomas Hyslop, and his mother as Isabella Kay. Esther's parents are: James Belford, and Mary White.

Thomas was a widower when he married Esther, having seven children of his own. They were:
1. Bella Hyslop ...Good
2. Agnes Hyslop...Steele
3. Sarah Little Hyslop....Taylor
4. Esther Hyslop...not married?
5. Hannah Hyslop...Glendenning
6. Sizzie (Lizzie?) Hyslop...Hass
7. Robert Hyslop

His first wife's name could have been Elizabeth McKnight, but I'm not positive. Esther Belford (Pinkney) joined him with her five children, and together they had four boys: James b. ~1869, Thomas, John, and William.

I don't know the date of when Thomas died, or where he is buried. His son, Thomas Hyslop is buried in Walkerton Cemetery.

I suspect that Esther left Streetsville after her husband died in 1863, and headed for Brant twp, possibly to house-keep for his brother, Robert Pinkney. While there, maybe she met Thomas Hyslop, and married him in 1868. I am hoping that someone can fill me in on the missing details. Any information would be kindly appreciated.

Bonnie
