Charles E. Thompson


Lebanon native Charles E. Thompson, 87, a longtime resident of Washington, D.C., died Friday, May 7, 2004, in Washington. He was the husband of the late Muriel H. Hupp Thompson.

Born Dec. 6, 1916, he was the son of the late Charles H. and Helen R. Thompson. He was a member of Annunciation Church in Washington. He was a lifelong attorney who served with the U.S. Department of Justice for about 10 years during the war years until the mid-1950s when he became an editor with the legal publication firm of what is now Pike and Fischer Inc. in Silver Spring, Md. He retired some 30 years later. He was a graduate of the University of Toronto, St. Michael's College, receiving his B.A. in 1940. He then entered law school at Georgetown University and graduated three years later before taking a position at the Justice Department.

Surviving are sister Mary T. Wagman of York; and several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. tomorrow at the Thompson Funeral Home, 126 S. Ninth St., Lebanon. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery.
