Hupp Quilt at the Smithsonian American Art Museum, Wash. D.C. from 5 Oct 2007- Jan 13, 2008 with 3 other cites to be determined and will be shown 3 mo. at each location. The title of the exhibition is "Going West! Quilts and Community Along the Great Platte River Road" and will have Sandi Fox from Los Angeles as curator. There will be approximately 55 objects in the exhibition.
The note that was attached to the quilt says "Quilt (In memory of Winnie Hupp) (Made by Winnie/mother-in-law). Made by Milo Hupp's grandmother. The quilt was donated to the North Central Nebraska Museum, the name later being changed to the Stuart (NE) White Horse Museum, on Mar. 30th, 1994 by Dick Bougue, who at that time lived in Rapid City, SD. He is now deceased and buried in Atkinson, NE. The quilt has some signatures and dates (about 100 years ago) on it. Might be worth stopping to see if you are in the area. June
