Hi all! It's your list moderator here. As most of you are probably aware, I
maintain a seperate website for all the surname lists I moderate here on
Rootsweb (Barringer, Black, Bradford, Coventry, Eller, Hackett, and Kern being
the others). The website is at http://www.gendepository.com. As you can see,
the Hupp section has hardly any information on it! I was looking at the
statistics of the website and since January 1, 2005, we've had 475 people come
to the Hupp section of the website! There is some census information there for
Hupp, but that is it. Although I add information I've come across in my own
research for other surnames, I have yet to find anything for Hupp. The
majority of the informaton on the Genealogy Depository website is submitted to
me from others who are on one of my lists.

I would love is folks could share information with me to put on the website.
All messages sent to this list are archived and available to others to search,
but many people are not aware of the archives and the website offers another
opportunity for folks to see some of the information there. If you have any
information you can add, that would be wonderful.

One of the first things you can do is send me your Hupp line to add to the
page. You can even write a biography (of any length!) on just 1 particular
Hupp ancestor to add.

Please note that if something is submitted to this list without saying that the
information is ok to post to the list, I will ask you first! At one time with
another list, folks would not post because they were afraid I'd just take the
information and post it to the site without asking, but I do not do that and
very against that practice. The point of putting your information online is to
help you find a connection. Maybe you have census data that can be added and
someone else out there in cyberspace has the same line, but not on the list,
the website offers an extra opportunity to find that connection. With over 400
folks to the site and Hupp not being a common name, your chances of finding a
connection through posting your information is pretty good.

Other spelling variations are ok as well! Other variations I've seen in my own
line: Hup, Huff, Hugg (both in census), Hob, Hopp, Hop, Hub, Hubb.

I understand if you don't want to post anything to the website, that is your
decision, but I just want to offer another way to find a connection.

Erin
