Mother Of Ohio Stae Football Coach "Woody" Hayes Dies at NCTown

Mrs Wayne B. Hayes 74, widow of former superintendent of Newcomerstown schools and mother of head coah Woody Hayes of Ohio State University dies at 2:30 pm Tuesday at her home, 488 East Canal St., Newcomerstown, after a lingering illness. She had been critical for the past several weeks
Effie HUPP was born May 20, 1978 at Elba, Washington County (OH) , a daughter of Alfred and Mary Whetstone HUPP and was married Sept 3, 1903 to Wayne B Hayes who died March 6, 1939.
She and her husband moved to Newcomerstown in 1920 where the latter served as superintendent of schools until his death . Mrs Hayes was a member of the Fisrt Presbyterian Church of Newcomerstown, the Ladies Aid Society of the church and formerly was active in Red Cross work.
Surviving are three children, Mrs Mary North, former actress and radio script writer of the home, Dr Isaac E Hayes, veternarian at Waterloo, Iowa , a former football captain at Iowa Stae College and Wayne "Woody" Hayes, Columbus (OH) . Three brothers Allen HUPP, Marietta (OH) , Charles HUPP, Sterling Mich., and Biggs HUPP Allegan, Mich; one sister Mrs Grover Hoskinson, Upland , Calif., and three grandchildren.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Friday at the Bonnell Funeral Home with Rev. Donald Doss, Pastor of the First Presbyterian Church in charge. Burial will be in West Lawn Cemetery.
Friends will be received at the funeral home from 7 to 9 pm Wednesday, from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm Thursday and Friday untill time for the service.


Effie is my 2nd cousin 4 times removed
