FUNERAL SERVICES FOR MRS. JOHN HUPP
Had been a resident of Carroll County for 64 years.
Truly a pioneer.
Mrs. Narcisses Hupp passed away Sunday Jan. 29, 1929 at home in Carrollton. The funeral services were in charge of L.A. Fleming, pastor of Carrollton and Rev. Harry Dirks of Ralston, Music was furnished byMrs. Lena Rabuck, Mrs. Della Annear, Rev. Dirks and John Annear, with Mrs. Frank Squire, pianist.
Interment in Carrollton Cemetery
Narcissus Sigler was born Nov. 17, 1852 in Ohio and departed this lifeJan 27, 1929. She was the daughter of John and Rachel Sigler. When a girl she moved with her parents from Ohio to Lee county, Iowa; and in 1865 moved from there to Carroll county where she spent the remainder of herlife.
On May 30, 1872, she was united in marriage to John W. Hupp. To this union were born seven children, three preceeding their Mother in death.Virginia aged 11 months, Nellie May 1 year, and Mrs. Fred Young (Cora) age 32 years. Leaving to mourn her death, an aged husband, three sons,and one daughter.
Emanuel of Spirit Lake, Jesse of Ralston, Willie of Fort Omaha, NE, and Annie Mae Andrews of Chicago, Illinois. Twenty-one grandchildren, neices and nephews and a host of friends.
When a girl she worked for the family having the first white child in Carroll County, she was ever ready to go when called upon to care for those in illness or in need. A disposition full of sunshine, a life fullof smiles, always ready to do a kindly act for others, a devoted Mother,a true homemaker, living her life for others. Truly her children riseand call her blessed.

Note: Many people have told me that Grandma Hupp had been mid wife to them and their mother's too and also was always ready to help prepare the dead for burial. I used to hear Grandma tell my Dad, Jesse Hupp that "We laid out so and so this week" Death to her was a matter of fact and she missed her dead freiends and relatives as many of them were.-Nellie Hupp Hutchinson
