Subject: [HUPP] Robert Hupp, Creator of the Huppmobile

An elderly cousin of mine (now passed on) once said that we were related to Robert Craig HUPP, an engineer who created the Hupmobile and founded the Hupp Motor Car Co. in Detroit (1908 - 1940). Don't know what a Hupmobile is? Here's a nice set of pictures:

According to the latter, "Bobby" Hupp was born June 2, 1887 in Grand Rapids, MI, and worked for Ford before starting his own company. He had a younger brother Louis who was his partner. "Bobby" died in 1917.
I don't accept my cousin's statement as gospel, but he was around to have conversations with his grandmother (my great-great grandmother) Sarah HUPP (1841 - 1916), who conceivably could have known the actual connection. She was the daughter of Manasseh HUPP (1814 - 1901), granddaughter of Francis HUPP (1786 - 1861), and great-granddaughter of Philip HUPP (1756 - 1831). The family migrated from Virginia to Washington Co., PA to Noble Co., OH, so an offshoot up to Michigan wouldn't be surprising.
So, just curious if anyone here knows Robert HUPP's ancestry? His middle name could possibly come from his mother's maiden name; I know there were many CRAIGs in eastern Ohio, and Manasseh's brother Francis (b. 1818) had two daughters who married CRAIGS. He also had some younger sons who I know little about, e.g. Francis (b. 1855), Alfred (b. 1856), George W. (b. 1859). Any of these three could be Robert's father.
