Hello, This reply to request re Mary Morrison, the second `natural child` of
Jean Howie. Mary was to prove a devoted daughter and neice to her mother Jean
and two unmarried aunts, Margaret and Mary. When Jean died 2/2/1859, she was
possibly aware that her daughter was pregnant, though unmarried. Mary
Morrison had a son Adam Mitchell in 1859. She continued to care for her aunts
and to rear her son. When Adam was 12, Mary married John Howat, a blacksmith,
twenty years her senior. They had one child, a son named Hugh in 1873. Jean
