My Hay line is as follows:
1. Johann Michael Hoh 5TH Great-Grandfather
2. Lieut. Col. John Hay 4th GGF
3. John Hay, Jr. 3rd GGF
4. Alexander Hay 2nd GGF
5. Dr. Thomas Hay GGF
6. Helen Cresson Hay Grandmother
7. Helen Cresson Hay Young Mother
8. William Young Epling Self
This Hay line spent three generations in the Palatinate, Bavaria where they
spelled their name Hoh. They came to Bavaria from Scotland - they left for
religious reasons.
The John Milton Hay mentioned below as Lincoln's secretaty (& much more) was
a direct descendant of Adam Hay, brother of Lieut. Col John Hay, my 4th GGF.
John Milton Hay was my 3rd cousin, 3 times removed.
I have a large amount of reasonably well documented data on my Hay line
(e.g., acepted by the DAR & SAR through Lieut. Col. John Hay) well into
their origin in Scotland. Anyone interested in pursuing this should contact
me directly.

Greetings to the Hay List. Ironically, I have two John Hay's in my family,
but of German heritage, pronounced "Hay," but spelled "Heh." They lived in
the Banat (Romania, Hungary, Yugoslavia, etc.,) prior to coming to the U.S.
in the early 1900s. Is there anybody out there on this list with any German
Hay/Hey's? Hope so!
Many thanks,
Marilyn
