James B. Hatchell appears to be the son of Julius J. (J.J.) Hatchell and Mary Adams of Pike Co., AL. Believe J. J. was the son of Benjamin Hatchell and Elizabeth White? of Darlington County, SC. He moved first to Thomas Co., GA where he was living at the time of his father's estate settlement in 1869 (Thomas Co., GA 1870 census, No. 328) and finally to Pike Co., Troy, AL where he was enumerated on the 1880 Pike Co, AL census, occupation carpenter. He served the Confederacy in the AL 39th Inf., Co. C, Sgt. Descendants of this family moved west to Texas and California. One known son of James B. Hatchell was living in Fort Worth, TX in Nov 1992, as was a son, Louis W. Hatchell, Jr. Would love to exchange information with anyone on this family and descendants.
