I received this E-mail from the above...can anybody help him? Serranus Clinton HASTINGS is not my direct line. Perhaps someone else is closer related than I am. Please reply directly to him. (A Cc: to the list would be nice.) Thanks, Doneva

Hi Doneva,
greetings from Germany. I hope you are doing well, especially in these times. In Germany we were also shocked about the attacks and I guess the German people are also thinking about the American people. By the way, my name is Alexander Reis from Wuppertal Germany (this town is close to Dsseldorf and Cologne, Rhineland). Originally I grew up 100 kilometers north of Frankfurt where my parents still live. Right now I study here to become a teacher. I came across your genealogical homepage while I was looking for Serranus Clinton Hastings. Right now, I did some research of a Reis branch who immigrated into the US in the 1840ties. I could even find some of the descendents. Well, I found out that Lillian Ila Huie *15 Dec 1871 SF, CA - +25 Jun 1991, SF,CA (daughter of William Henry Thompson Huie and Lillie McMillian Reis who was the daughter of Julius C. Reis (he emmigrated with his parents) and Ellen Dent) married on the 10th of Nov 1928 Harry H. Hastings Jr. in SF. Since I did !
not know anything about Harry Hastings, I could not follow that line. Today I got to know that his dad or more likely his granddad ought to be the founder of the Hastings School of Law in SF and that he was called Serranus Clinton Hastings. So I checked the homepage of that school and found that even Lillian's and Harry's name because they donated money, too. On your homepage I found out that S.C. Hastings was married 2 times. You listed 2 daughter from his 2nd marriage. I was wondering if Harry Hastings would be related to the first marriage or maybe to the 2nd, too. Maybe you came across some of the Hastings connection or maybe you would know people who could provide any further information. I guess, it will be the famous needle in a haystack.I would be great to hear from you -who knows maybe one is able to find a connection.Since I only started 2 -3years ago with genealogical work, I just love it and I really got addicted to it, especially when one is able to find new conn!
