Robert Monroe Cummings

RAVENSWOOD - Robert Monroe Cummings, 82, of Ravenswood, formerly of
Charleston and Elkview, died Dec. 30, 2001, in Ravenswood Care Center.

Born Sept. 12, 1919, at Bergoo, he was the son of the late Adam L. and Ellet
Hamrick Cummings. He was also preceded in death by six sisters and four
brothers.

He was a retired master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force, having served
during World War II. He was former governor of the Charleston Moose Lodge
and served as a mechanic with the West Virginia Air National Guard. He was a
Protestant.

Surviving: daughter, Gwenith Weitz of Long Beach Island, N.J.; sisters,
Leota Fox of Warren, Ohio, Theta Tripplett of Bergoo; sister-in-law, Lela
Cummings of Charleston; grandsons, David Weitz of Tampa, Fla., Mark Weitz of
New York City, N.Y.; granddaughter, Nicole Weitz of Beverly Hills, Calif.

Service will be noon Wednesday, Jan. 2, at Dodd & Reed Funeral Home, Webster
Springs, with the Rev. Larry Cochran of Webster Springs officiating. Burial
will be in Meadowland Cemetery, Bergoo.

Friends may call one hour prior to service at the funeral home.
