Hello
I found a death certificate for a Martha MACKEY. She was born April 21,
1833 in Ireland and died in a Presbyterian Home on October 6, 1912 in
Philadelphia, PA. She was buried in Chester, PA. She was listed as a widow.
Her parents are listed as William BAIRD and Eliz HAMILTON.
I am trying to piece together my BAIRDs and HAMILTONs so of course this
intrigues me!
1. Eliz HAMILTON would have been around the right age to be a sister to
Hance HAMILTON born 1807 in Ireland and Joseph HAMILTON born 1811 in
Ireland who lived only a few doors from a Thomas and Jane BAIRD on the 900
block of S 4th St. and Hanse and Joseph's mother's name was Elizabeth.
2. A William BAIRD lived at 1723 Federal St according to the 1867
Philadelphia PA City Directory and 3 years later Thomas and Jane BAIRD
moved from S. 4th St to 1739 Federal St only 8 doors up from William
according to the 1870 City Directory.
3. I found who I strongly believe to be my John BAIRD/BEARD who married
Margaret Jane HAMILTON (both born circa 1840 Ireland) living at 11
Colebrook Pl (by the 700 block of S. Front St) according to the 1870 census
Philadelphia, PA 2nd enumeration. Living in the same household was an Ellen
GOODFELLOW born in Ireland and a Joseph GOODFELLOW born in PA. They are
listed in the same family group. Also living at the same address,
different family group, listed before John and Margaret, are Margaret
ARTERY born in Ireland and Mary ARTERY born in PA.
I'm not 100% sure that there is a connection from my end but I did come
across an old post from a person who was researching MACKEY, BAIRD and
GOODFELLOW lines. I would be interested in getting in touch with that
person or anyone else for that matter who has or might have a tie into
these lines.
