We have been working on the Jackson County Hamilton's for years. I believe Evan b.1818 in Dillon S.C. is a son of Henry Hamilton b. about 1792 in SC. I am descended from Levi Hamilton owned land in Jackson County, FL and died at Camp Chase prison in 1865. Levi eludes me on all censuses. Do you have to carry the name Hamilton as a male to do the DNA or can you be the son of a female Hamilton?
