> Hi Audrey,
> Have we corresponded before? I do believe we have chatted in the past.
> I have Hamiltons from Marion Co. SC also. Zack Hamilton was born there on
> July 1, 1840. I have not seen (certainly doesn't mean that he wasn't there)
> a Zack Hamilton. Could be that he is listed by a first name and was called
> Zack by family.) By 1860 he was in Jackson County, FL. Other Hamiltons who
> might be related to Zack who also wound up in Jackson Co. Fl. were Levi
> Archie Hamilton, Mary Hamilton, and Evan S. Hamilton (who was married over
> the state line in Robeson Co. NC in 1843).Do you have any additional data
> on Evan m/1843??
My immediate family, Evandore b/1866 s/o (John?? and Mary/Polly
> (Henderson?? b/1832 in SC) and Martha/Mattie Elizabeth WIGGINS b/1870
> m/1890) migrated from Dillon Co., before second son was born in 1893. 1st
> son was John Gaston b/1891 in Dillon. 2nd was Lelia Henry. Yes it was a
> son with the name Lelia. The youngest son of this family had the spelling
> of his name as 'EVANDER'
Evandore's sibs were Jasper b/1852 m/Elendore STRICKLAND, Mary Jane
> b/1858, Tristram/Tressy b/1863 m/Nellie BEATHA. I find this family (mother
> is widow) in the 1870 & h1880 census of Marion & Dillon Cos. Can't find
> them in 1860. If the above John is the husband/father, he was in the civil
> war. Was injured in right thigh in 1864 and died in 1868. (A direct
> descendant remembers her gf stating that his gf was wounded in the civil
> war; however didn't die until several years later.
I have been unable to prove the birth parentage of Martha/Mattie Elizabeth
> WIGGINS b/1870. However, in the 1880 census (online) I located a Martha E.
> d/o Henry and Caroline WIGGINS in Robeson Co., NC
Evandore b/1866 and family migrated from the Sumter/Emanuel/Tattnall Cos of
GA to the > Tampa, Hillsborough Co., FL. area. The eldest, John Gaston, went
> into the Tallahassee, FL area.
> Zack Hamilton died in Jackson Co. FL. in 1920. His death certificate lists
> his parents as Henry and Polley Hamilton, both born in SC. Indeed there is
> Henry Hambleton on the census for Marion Co. in 1840, the year Zack was
> Have you checked this alternate spelling for any of your folks? Yes, I
> found in the early census of Marion Co., a John and William Hambleton.
> Do any of my Hamiltons sound familiar? I would love to establish a
> relationship between Levi, Zack, Archie, and Evan, who I suspect were
> brothers or perhaps cousins. Any info. about any of these would be greatly
> appreciated! Evandore, Tristram were popular names during that time
> period in SC.
