I am also trying to research my great, great grandfather, William HAMILTON,
b. 25 Jul, 1783, probably the Pendleton District. He mar. Rachel HUNTER, b.
in Weaver's Creek, in what is now Pickens Co., SC, on 15 Mar, either 1791
or 1792, the dau. of Henry HUNTER, and Barbara BOLINGER/BOLLINGER. My
continuous "brick wall," is finding out who the parents and family were of
William HAMILTON, my gggrandfather, but have never been able to find out
anything about his being in SC except for the date and the fact of his
brith supposedly being in SC. However, I have found at least two brothers
via William's war record, named James A. HAMILTON,. and Dr. Joseph HAMILTON
from Claiborne and Grainger Co., TN. William m. Rachel c. 1808, Claiborne
Co., TN, and had 8 children there before moving on to Lincoln Co., TN where
they had about 6 more children, among them my great grandfather, Frank
Newton HAMILTON, child # 12. William's brothers were born in Ireland.

That is my HAMILTON connection.
