Did someone finally put Hamilton and NJ in the same e-mail???? I was
beginning to think all Hamiltons hailed from PA or KY.

I am new at genealogy, and don't have much to offer, either, but . . .

My grandfather was William Arthur Cecil Hamilton. I believe he was born in
NJ--he showed me his home of birth in NJ once when I was little. He lived
in Montreal, and was married to FrancesMary Clements who came from Nova
Scotia. I think my grandfahter's business was based in Halifax, NS. It was
called Scythes & Co., and they made rope. My grandfather's brothers were
Beverley Hamilton, and Hubert Douglas Hamilton MD. All of Montreal. I
cannot go back much further, except that I know there is a Moses Grant
somewhere in the family, and I have a miniature portrait of this gentleman
wearing a red military uniform. There were also Bedell's in the family. My
father was named Bedell Hamilton, much to his chagrin! I have a portrait of
an old lady whose name is Mrs. Paul Bedell. There is a Hamilton family plot
at Mt. Royal Cemetery in Montreal, and a stained glass window dedicated to
the family at Trinity Memorial Church in Montreal. I plan to check these
out soon.

Does this ring any bells, Chuck Gibson??
