Even more Hamilton confusion? If James W. went into the turpentine business,
where did the medical doctor business come from? Could we have picked up
Mozelle by error? Do we have any more dates on James W., birth, death or
otherwise in our family history? What about Iva L. Rogers Berry who we have
marrying our James W. on August 7, 1912? It is doubtful that there were two
Hamilton's married to Mozelle Branch. Like my mother, the more I learn, the
more confused I become. Bill, please "ramble on." We are hungry for any
information that you might provide. Thanks, Nick

Nick, I hope this clears up some of the confusion.

A HISTORY OF WILCOX CO., GA Vol. II
A SAMPLING OF
HISTORIC HOMES IN WILCOX CO.
The Hamilton House--Mr. and Mrs. Aden Hamilton moved to Rochelle with
their three sons, Walker, John and Dolphin (Doll or D.D.). Their other
sons Will and Fred went to Florida to live. Walker went into the
turpentine business and married Mozelle Branch from Baxley, GA. John
went into the merchandise business. He married Lily Fisher from
Abbeville, GA. Dolphin married Rachel Mauldin from Irwin Co. John and
Dolphin went into busines in Abbeville and lived there for a number of
years. Mr. Hamilton built a five-room house near the northeast corner
of Ashley Street on Second Avenue. They lived there for a number of
years. When the Hamiltons moved to Rochelle, their four daughters were
already married and living in Taylor and Monroe Counties. The youngest
daughter of the Hamilton's, Sophronia, with her husband, W. Daniel
McCallum, came to Rochelle around 1905 with their children: J. Van,
Sarah, Mary Lucy, Mozelle and little Willie. Soon after moving to
Rochelle, Willie died. Mr. and Mrs. McCallum went into the livery
stable and grocery business with the help of J. Van and Sarah when they
were not in school. The Aden Hamiltons move to Abbeville and the
McCallums moved in the Hamilton house....
Mozelle McCallum Lovett

I know that some of this is not correct. It was the William James
Hamilton family that moved to Wilcox Co. and not the Aden Hamilton
family. Aden was the father of William James and died in Houston Co.,
GA around 1855. The son Will mentioned in the article was William Aden
Hamilton. D.D.'s youngest daughter, Mary Christie (Hamilton) Dumont
lives here in Sebring and one of her daughters lives on the same road I
live on.
I know that I am rambling so better stop. I will try to find more on
James Walker Hamilton and will get back to you.
Thanks for taking your time reading this.
