I can't give you definite information on this line at this time, but I can tell you that i'm almost certain this Hackett and his wife Tamer were free blacks who migrated from a free black line in VA. I am doing research on free blacks in antebellum North Carolina and have come across their names. Let me get back to you at a later time with more definite information. It could be that he was from a white line, but I just can't remember right now. I'm also going to the archives in Raleigh in a few weeks and can look him up in records while I'm there.
