Message Board Post:

I had an ancestor named Cornelius Hackett from Roanoke Indiana. My grandfather Neil hackett was named after him. The father "my" Cornelius Hackett was Thomas Hackett born in Cincinnati Ohio in 1808. Thomas' father was John Hackett who was a sailor, said to be from County Mayo. John disappeared after telling his wife he was going home to Ireland to visit. His wife later married a "Van Arsdal" and had nine more children, and that's when my line of Hackett's changed from Catholic to Methodist I believe. I have no information on John at all. It would be funny if "your" Cornelius was an ancestor of mine.
