Hi Ruth:
Have you taken a look at the Allen Hackett in Gilmanton, Strafford Co., N.
H. in the 1810 census? He's too old to be born in about 1795, but is a good
candidate to be the father (or uncle) of your Allen. And your Allen Hackett
could be the younger Allen Hackett found in the 1830 census in Springwater,
Livingston Co., N. Y., who is of the right age (30<40) to be b. in 1795 and
apparently has an older wife, age (40<50) who fits your "Ruth J." of age 67
in the Macomb Co. 1850 census. Also, in the 1830 census they appear to have
a dau. of age (10<15) who seems to fit the age of your Eleanor Jane, b.
1818. That's quite a string of indirect evidence suggesting you should poke
around in Gilmanton, N. H. for more information. Then look for Hacketts in
Massachusetts, since Ruth J. seems to have b. there and the two families
could have migrated to N. H. together.
Hope this helps:
Mac Young
