My ggrandfather Ira G. Hackett born Nov 1836 in Richland county, Ohio and died May 1902. He married Elizabeth Chew in 1870 and they had 4 children. His line goes back through Wayne county and east to Pittsburgh and on to Perry county, Pennsylvania.
The Pennsylvania Hackett's includes the family of David Hackett of Duncannon. David is sometimes referred to as the patriarch of Hackett's in Pennsylvania. He had emigrated from northern Ireland, most likely Antrim county, previous to the American Revolutionary war. His son Robert was a Colonel in that war and lost an arm in battle. David and his family lived out their lives in the Duncannon area, some descendants later moved on westward to Ohio.
I am also researching - the Shipbuilder Hackett's of Massachusetts - this included William Hackett and John and Robert all were in the business of boat construction during the American Revolutionary war period. I am looking for information on their families and their lives in those days. Anything about the area of Salisbury and Essex county is of interest to me.
