Will of Cornelius Hackett of the HMS Berwick
The will was written while he was in the Falmouth Hospital , on the Island of Antiqua. (will written 30 Sep 1759 & proved on the 22 July 1760, PCC 1760) The will is as follows:
In the Name of God Amen
I Cornelius Hackett belonging to his Majesty Ship
Berwick and now in the Ffalmouth Hospital in the Island of
Antiqua being very sick and weak in body and knowing that
it is appointed for all Men once to dye, do make publish and
ordaine this to be my last Will and Testament in manner
and form following. I leave and bequeath to my true and
trusty friend Davis Connolly of his Majestys Ship Berwick
aforesaid All my wages, Prize money, Short Allowance money
wearing apparel and all the Estate or Estates wherewith it
hath pleased God to possess me of and do appoint my said
friend Davis Connolly Executor of this my last Will and
Testament. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand
and seal this 30th day of September 1759 and in the thirty
third year of the Reign of his Majesty George the second by
the Grace of God of Great Britain Ffrance and Ireland
defender of the faith , Cornelius Hackett, his mark> Witnessess

On the twenty second day of July in the year of our Lord
one thousand seven hundred and sixty Administration (with the
will annexed) of the Goods Chattles and Credits of Cornelius
Hackett late belonging to his Majestys Ship Berwick a Bachelor
deceased was granted to Charles Clapham the lawful Attorney
of Davis Connolly sole Executor named in the said Will for the
use and benefit of the said Executor now at sea he having been
first sworn duly to adminster for.
