I had a Bertha Hackett great aunt living in Spokane about 1948. Bertha
was a sister of Herbert Haley Hackett of Riggins, Idaho; of Georgia
Hackett McGinnis of Louisville, Kentucky; and of my grandfather William
Bostock Hackett, Sr., of Ripley, Tennessee. They were of eight siblings
in the family of Hacketts who were of descendants of the Hacketts,
Bostocks and Wrights of Breedon-on-the-Hill, near Derby in
Leicestershire. The Hackett family home there was known as Breedon
Lodge. If it interests you, Google Breedon-on-the-Hill and browse a
bit. There's a lovely old church, St. Mary and St. Hardulph, that had
many Hacketts buried in its churchyard when I visited in 1952. As I
recall it, everyone came floating down to Ohio circa 1820. Wrightsville
and Cincinnati by the 1850s, on down to Louisville and Paducah and
Metropolis where I believe Bertha came into being somewhere along that
pathway. I believe there were family members in the Metropolis area in
the 1880s. --Bill Hackett
William Bostock Hackett, III, in Santa Barbara, California.
