Tell us more about Hacketts from Tipperary being protestants to keep their land. My Hacketts are from Tipperary. I suspect they were also protestants, as my g g gf married a Welsh protestant woman. My g g gf was Pierce (Peter) Hackett, born 1795 in Clonmel. His father was John Hackett and his mother Mary Christopher. He certainly was not a "Sir". The Hackett name is Norman, though, from the fish, apparently.

We had his birthdate from his sons, and many years ago, an aunt of mine sent some money to the Catholic Parish of Irishtown to see if they could give her a baptismal certificate, and lo and behold, they sent one which the church filled out with his supplied birthday on it. I suspect they were just trying to please actually, because when another relative went there, no records could be found, apparently. I'm wondering now if they should have looked at Church of Ireland records instead.
