Skip Kitchens,
Are you there? I do not have your
direct email address but wonder if you have
been following the messages of Allen Rowe
about Whitaker Hackett.
His most recent message to me is
below. Are you in touch?
Also, has either of you tried to help
Gail Vaughn whose message about White Co,
GA, Hacketts was gatewayed to our list from
the rootsweb bulletin board a week or so ago?

>Elizabeth,
I meant to send this with the correct subject line when I posted to the
Hackett rootsweb , but didn't. I didn't want to post it twice so I'm
sending it to you as an e-mail.
Whitaker W. Hackett who was my great great grandfather married Eliza
Crenshaw in Franklin Co., Ga on 2/6/1859. I think they were back and forth
between Georgia and South Carolina as he served from South Carolina during
the Civil War. Whitaker was named apparently for his mother Catherine
Smith's father who was Whitaker Smith. If you would like to go back even
further, Whitaker Smith's grandmother was Hannah Whitaker, born 3/26/1729
in Maryland.
Albert Hackett was in Anderson, South Carolina for the 1860 census. I never
found him after that until I came across his death notice just a couple of
weeks ago. Albert died on 4/29/1870 in Anderson Co., SC. Albert was named
as the son and executor of Robert Hackett's will, proved Dec. 17, 1832. I
have no idea who he was named for as I only have traced him back to his
father. I don't think that Robert's widow, Lucinda, was Albert's mother,
but I am not sure.
