>Whitaker W. Hackett (1/11/1835 - 2/2/1920) was the son of Albert Hackett
(ca 1809 - 4/29/1870) and Catherine Smith, (10/15/1810 - 9/25/1857); the
son of Robert Hackett (1782 - 12/8/1832). I have never seen Whitaker as
Whitaker Thomas, only as Whitaker W., which is the way it is on his
headstone.

This is good to know. Have you been in touch with Skip
who posted his query about a Whitaker T. Hackett here
several days ago?
Your Whitaker W. is from Franklin and moved to Newton Co?
Albert is an unusual name for 1809. Do you know for whom
he was named? It got a lot more popular later in the century
after Prince Albert married Queen Victoria.
I find Albert in Anderson co, SC, in 1860, with many children
and not of course Catherine as she has died. Did Whitaker
go on to Franklin and then Newton? Was he related to the
William and Robert in Franklin co, GA, by 1830? That
Robert was born about 1774 and died between 1840 and 1850.
I know that the Franklin county Hacketts were from SC and
were identified by their own descendants as being "Irish."
I was hoping to link them to my Irish Tipperary and Offaly
Hacketts.
