Hi Elizabeth, I have finally gotten the information I wanted and the time to pass it on. I now have a copy of Valentine Joseph Hackett, and you are right. His father was from Alton, Ill., and his mother, Libby Jane Easton, from Springfield, Ill., and my father(born Valentine Joseph Hackett, aka Jack J. Hackett)was born also in Alton, Illinois, not Irish. I guess my Mother remembers something about ancestries were from Ireland,Scotland,England. I also found out that Libby Hackett remarried and became Matthews, and the way I understand things: Valentine J. Hackett married Libbie Easton; they had little Valentine,Angelicia, and Dolores. That was in the 1930 Census. Then in the 1930 Census I found Valentine J Hackett, Dorothy E. and Richard (I think) W. who was only 10 months old. Back farther, 1920 Census, found Valentine J. Hackett with Libby and little Valentine, who was 2 years old. I know that Angelicia died in the late 1990's and Libbie died in the late 1980's, Accor!
ding to Evelyn Hackett, my father went to Philelphia to work, and went to New Jersey to visit his father, but it was to late, he had past away. Apparently in an auto accident. He meet Dorothy, but she was not happy to see him. I am trying to find Libbie and have tried the spelling of "Matthews", this evening I am going to look under "Mathews". In my baby book it is spelt,"Matthews",but Evelyn writes it as "Mathews". I have three married names of his sister and half-sisters, if it looks we have a connection.
