My John Hackett was born in Ireland about 1835. Since one of his sons was
Edward, I wonder if they might have been brothers? John wound up in Chester,
NY about 1868. His wife Mary (b. Ire, 1837) followed with a boat load of
children about 1872. Their son John (b. 1872, NY) wound up marrying a
daughter of Michael & Elizabeth Kelly Ennis who was sent to the US in about
1894 at about 16 years old. I have also been told by one faction that we
came from County Cork, and by another that we were from Dublin. Who is to
know? I would be willing to bet that we are, or at least should be, barking
up the same family tree.
