My records indicate that Patrick Hackett or Hacket m. Mary Stanton and emigrated to Orange Township, Ionia County, MI from County Leitrim, Ireland approximately 1838 with children Barnard, John, Margarettia or Marjoreh, and Richard. Two more children were born in MI, Thomas and Richard. My line descends from John Hackett b. 1829. and m. Catherine Butler of Berlin Township, Ionia County, MI on 12-09-1854. They had 4 children, Alice Price, Robert, and Edward P. Edward married Celia Ann Palmer also of Orange Township and they had 2 children, John P. and Kathryn Celia ( my grandmother). Kathryn married William Powell and they had 6 children, Antoinette, William, John, Louis, Catherine, and Frederick, my father. I know that my family is related to the Harwood family as my grandmother mentioned they were close cousins. The Harwood family still operates a large dairy farm south of Ionia on State Road (M-66). I also am aware that Patrick Hackett was a brother of Peter Hacket!
t who was a prominent early settler of Ionia City. I am having adifficult time finding much info on the family in Ireland. Hope this helps and look forward to hearing from you.
