It would appear that there are many of us who've been told over the years that we are descended from the Pocahontas-John Rolfe union. I've heard this all my life and have even been told there is documentation of this somewhere, but I have no idea where to look. My grandfather (born 1884) died in 1970 and my father has been dead almost 20 years. I no longer have contact with members from that side of the family (parents divorced when I was young) so I have no idea how to track down this information, if it does indeed exist. I have been told, however, that most Rolfes who claim ancestry to Pocahontas are not, in fact, descendents, as Rebecca (Pocahontas) and John Rolfe only had one son, Thomas, who only had a daughter, so there was no one to carry on the name directly. If there is additional information out there on this, I'd be interested in seeing it. Please e-mail me at if you have any info. Thanks!
