Hi, Folks,
This is a message I got last February. The Jay is Jay Glanville
who has a nice web site on which he lets us other Glanville researchers
post our people. Since my Glanvilles married Hacketts, there is stuff on
there about Jane Glanville marrying 1810 Thomas Hackett of Bracca Castle
(in Westmeath, but mostly the family was in Offaly just across the border).
Sean has found Bracca info on Jay's site. Thought you might
enjoy this info.
These Hacketts were Church of Ireland [Episcopal] from about
1700 onward, and those in the area are related. Descendants
went mostly to Canada and Australia.

I am working on a site for my local historical society
www.offalyhistory.com
and find references to Bracca Castlearmstrong therein. The Thomas Hackett
at
these addresses was election agent for Bernard C Molloy MP for King's
County
from 1880 to 1900 about whom you will find an article on the site under
reading resources. He was land agent for the Molloy's. Bernard C Molloy was
a brother of James Lynam Molloy who wrote "Just a song at twilight" and
about 240 other songs as well as the book on the site called "Our Autumn
Holiday on French Rivers"
I will probably follow up some of this material in view of a particular
interest in James Lynam Molloy and his land agent Thomas Hackett.
The Bibliography of Offaly also among the reading resources on the site
also
has a reference to Bracca Castle. I am interested in the Handy of
Coolylough
and Bracca Castle who is mentioned in that reference.
