It would depend on what your Hackett line was as to whether you
have a coat of arms (or care about one for that matter). Most people would
not have a coat of arms (regardless of name) because it is handed down in a
specific manner from (usually) father to oldest son and would not concern
most of us. :>}
There are quite distinct lines of Hacketts in England and in
Ireland (from at least 1200 on) with no known relationship to each other.
Then within each country are further distinct lines. In Ireland alone,
Hacketts in Munster, Leinster, and other areas are not known to be related.
Certain groups that share surnames got them from a leader to whom
they were related by blood either not at all or not closely.
I would not worry about coats of arms until I was handed a pedigree
from one of the established offices of such things in Europe.
