HI,
My great grandfather is John S. Hackett. But my John was not born until
1845. His father was William. Maybe this could possibly be my John's
grandfather. Do you have any more information? My John was born in OH. His
father William was born in N.J. I Do not know Williams parents names.
Sincerely,
Madolin Hackett-Sparks
<< >From the National Archives I have a copy of a War of 1812 Bounty Land
Patent
for 160 acres in Phillips Co., AR issued to JOHN S. HACKETT in 1821 as
well as his pension record for injuries received in the war. John S. Hackett
enlisted 5 Sep 1812, was a sergeant in Capt. Winston's Co. of the 24 U.S.
Infantry, was discharged as a 2nd Lieutenant in 1814, was wounded in an
encounter with Indians in 1813. He was allowed a pension in 1816 because
of his severe wounds. I do not find this John S. Hackett to be our ancestor,
Johnathan S. Hacket who also served in the 1812 War. If there is a descendant
of John S. Hackett who would like the information I have received from
the Archives, please get in touch with me. >>
