I know many of the folks on this mailing list have had help from Gary
Hackett. As you all probably know, Gary is unable to be on-line, due to
his physical condition.

I received a very short, 4-sentence letter from Gary day before
yesterday. I'm sure this is all he is able to manage. Here's what he
had to say in his letter:

He has been in the hospital since 24 August.

His wife passed away on the 2nd of December.

Gary still has a spark of optimism: he said he'd "catch me when
better".

I think it would be a nice gesture if the people who know Gary would
drop him a line and let him know that they remember him. I don't think
it's adviseable to ask him any questions which would require an answer,
as he's in no shape to be writing letters. Gary's address is:

I received a picture of Gary before he was admitted to the hospital in
August -- he was in a wheelchair, hooked up to oxygen. Looking at the
picture, you'd never guess that it was Gary.
