We are all looking for Hackett's in the same area!
I am looking for information on James L. Hackett of Greene,
NY (waaaaayy upstate for most people), which is in
Chenango Co. The information I have on him is this:
married: Anna White b. 9/25/1859 (daughter of Wm. Perry White
and Julie Bartlett of Greene, NY)
between 1880 and 1887.
They had three sons(?):
2 - Unknown (one son may be Merton Hackett of Coventry, NY) and
George Merton Hackett 2/12/1887 - 2/8/1954 Greene NY my
beloved Grandfather.
His Mother died in the fall of 1893 after being ill all summer. His
father is unaccounted for and many have also died .He was raised
by his grandparents - W. Perry & Julie White. He is listed in the 1900
census as living with them. George married Lillian C. Edgerton
of Greene NY (daughter of Isaac Edgerton and Clara H. Tyler
of Greene, NY) in 1912 in Greene.

Marti, I do not have info on your people but had thoughts about your
research. Where does GMH say his father was born? Did you locate
Hacketts in the area in 1880? Since it is rural, it is likely Anna married
someone local. I am assuming you did all census research from 1920
back. Did you search for JLH's death certificate?
