He was born November 27,1857 at Moate,co.Westmeath. He was ordained a
catholic priest on M arch 4,1883 and assigned to the Diocese of Adelaide,
South Australia. He was created Monsignore in 1915 and he died on August
16,1923 and is buried Panmure Auckland.
thank you Pat Kelly , contact me <
PAT I have found ANOTHER post from you on the Hackett list. Now you
are in RI and your Hacketts came to the USA, but this relative went to
Australia and Aukland, right?
Have you tried searching on the web for an Irish Roman Catholic
site that would tell where the priests' records are. When they ordained
him, they must have had records on file. I found my CofI minister
relatives that way in Ireland, by writing to the Church of Ireland library
archives. And you should also do the same thing for Australian RC records
as there would be information in them, when he became a Monsignore, and
when he died. Also an obituary.
You might get started with Cyndi's List under religion or under the
countries.
Elizabeth
