Subject: [HACKETT-L] Setting computer for a 4 digit date- Y2K
Date: Fri, 31 Dec 1999 16:56:34 EST
You may already be aware of how to do this but just in case you don't this is
from a computer network specialist and I thought I would pass it on.
This is a very simple process to setup for a 4 digit year:
1. Click once on START in the lower left corner of your screen.
2. Go to SETTINGS and then to CONTROL PANEL
3. On the next desktop window you will see an icon that looks like a globe
called REGIONAL SETTINGS. Double click on that
4. Along the top there are 5 tabs - click on the DATE tab
5. Look for an entry called "SHORT DATE STYLE," If your Short Date Style is
set as MM/DD/YYYY then your PC is fine and you can cancel out of everything.
If yours is set at MM/DD/YY then you need to go on to step 6.
6. On the right hand side of the MM/DD/YY there is an arrow pointing down.
Click on it once and then go down to the MM/DD/YYYY and click once.
7. Click OK and that is it
