In Public Record Office, London: Delegates' Examinations. Vol. 23, nos.
15 and 17.

A.D. 1698 HACKETT or HASKETT (It's HACKETT), Stephen, bro. of Elias, Sr.,
was put apprentice to a soap-boiler (similar to the ship that brought
Jabez(1) Hackett to Lynn, MA in 1644, later of Taunton, MA 1656). Stephen
Hackett m. Elizabeth Hill, and went to Salem in New England (Lynn, MA was
once Salem, MA).

Hackett, Elias, son of Stephen and nephew of Elias, Sr., married
Elizabeth Rich and settled in Barbados (whole lot of Hacketts were of the
Barbados, some were Malatos, re some children of a James Hackett for
example, a rich ship owner and land owner); anyway, Stephen trades in
shipping and merchandise. (Signs.) Mary, wife of Elias Hackett, Sr. died
a few days before him (Stephen). Stephen and Elizabeth had a dau.
Elizabeth and daus. Mary, Sarh, Hannah, and Martha, now at Salem
(Massachusetts).

American Wills Proved in London:
John Hackett [of Penna, Bachelor], dated 27 March 1721. In case I die
this voyage I make this as my will. 5 pounds each to my sister Mary
(Hackett) Bolter and my brothers Thomas Bolter and Thomas Hackett. The
residue to my father John Hackett of Worcester. Wits: Lydia Pocock and
Elizabeth Allibon. AWW 25 Feb 1731 by affirmation to the brother Thomas
Hackett, the father having died. (PROB 11/642/37.) That's the way they
had the numbers! Don't ask, I don't know.

History of Dover, NH: The Twombly Family:
Abigail Twombly, dau. of Joshua, b. 31 Aug 1795; m. PETER HACKETT; they
settled in Rochester, NH and had children. Names?????

Lyndeborough, Hillsborough County, NH: Tombstone Inscriptions 1764-1980:

Lois Butler Hackett, w/o Ephraim, d. 17 June 1852 ae 65.

Susie Burnham Hackett, w'o[?], d. 23 Nov 1857 ae 92, [s.b]-whatever that
means?

In "A Genealogical History of Henry Adams of Braintree, Mass. and his
descendants; also John Adams of Cambridge, Mass. 1632-1897, compiled and
edited by Andrew N. Adams, Pub. 1898, page 38:
Children of Dr. Moses Adams (1777) and 2nd wife Nancy (Phillips) Adams we
find:
Herbert Adams, b. 27 Nov 1822 in Ellsworth, ME; m. 29 Sep 1851, Abba J.
BARNARD. She married 2nd ROBERT J. HACKETT, of Detroit, and she is living
1897. He removed to Michigan in 1846; d. at Belle Plain, VA, 4 Jan 1863.
Man liked to travel about, but this may solve someone's HACKETT
MYSTERY...who knows?

Sophia Ayers of Wakefield, NH. JAMES HACKETT, Jr. was my
g.g.g.grandfather, son of Colonel JAMES HACKETT. (See Whole Number 57,
January 1998 Vol. 15, NO. 1, page 30. This Vol. takes the EDGERLYS back
to Jethro(5) Edgerly, see Vol. 14, p. 154, which goes back to the
Progenitor THOMAS EDGERLY.
