History of Sanbornton, NH:
HACKETT, Moulton was an early resident of New Hampton, NH, being an uncle
of the late Hon. W.H.Y. HACKETT of Portsmouth, NH. He was a Free Will
Baptist preacher in Holderness and New Hampton, NH and died in the latter
town, leaving seven children.
William Henry HACKETT, b. abt. 1792 at Lyconing, PA; d. abt. 1886. His
dau. Mary Ellen HACKETT, b. 8 Sep 1848 at Williamsport, Lyconing, PA; d.
28 Apr 1926 at Idaho Falls, Bonneville, ID; m. abt. 1874 at Williamsport,
PA, Francois Elisee Lambert, b. 15 Nov 1647 at St. Antoine-,D, L, Quebec
Canada; d. 23 Sep 1938 at El Paso, El Paso, TX. Sent in by Lambert
descendant, whose mother was Eliza Helen Lambert of TX, b. in ID.
Charles HACKETT of Lee, NH; m. 25 Nov 1793 Hannah Edgerly, dau. of Daniel
and Hannah (Wheeler) Edgerly of Dover, NH descendant of (Zachariah, John,
Thomas Edgerly).
Getting closer to finding out if the HACKETTS are related to Pocahontus
(Spelling? Sorry, forgotten how to spell her name and I'm a poor speller
to begin with), but anyway the Indian girl who married John Rolfe of
England who went to VA and married her and brought her back to England
where she lived and died. Here is where I'm at on this:
William2 (William1) HACKETT, b. 10 Mar 1682/3 at Salisbury, MA; m. 9 Dec
1708 Salisbury, MA, Hannah Young, dau. of Edward and Hannah (WHITTIER)
Young, who was the dau. of Thomas and Ruth (Green) WHITTIER, who was the
son of [Robert] WHITTIER who m. Mary ROLFE (in England). Now I have to
follow Mary Rolfe's line. So far I have Thomas WHITTIER (spelled early as
Whittle) who came over in the "Confidence" 1638 and was a servent to JOHN
ROLFE. So I suspect Mary ROLFE prob. was dau. of John ROLFE. The next
thing is he the same John Rolfe first of VA who returned to America
leaving his wife in England, or was this a son?????
