Atten: Bobbie, see further on for the Dow/Hackett data.
Atten: HACKETTS et al:

This following HACKETT deed brings up a couple of interesting datas to
some of us researching in New England. First it's good to know if
researching in MA and could save you a lot of time if going after
certificates of b., m., d. You would need to know in 1747 Tiverton, MA
and Little Compton, MA was annexed to RI. 1787 Westport and New Bedford,
MA set off from Dartmouth, MA ( Freetown, MA boarders Dartmouth). 1812
FAIRHAVEN set off from NEW BEDFORD, MA. 1860 Acushnet set off from
FAIRHAVEN, MA. This said and I won't detail all whereas' and wherein's of
this deed.

JUDAH HACKETT of FAIRHAVEN, MA, Bristol County for the sum of thirteen
dollars give JOHN HACKETT and his heirs of Epping, NH in the County of
Rockingham his land and dwelling place (the considerable land was
described from this rock to land boardering other lands of other people
and so many rods etc.) in the year 1811, received and recorded 5th March
1813. JUDAH HACKETT signed and sealed the deed as did his wife SARAH
HACKETT giving up all her right of Dower and the power of thirds in the
Epping premises. I believe this JOHN HACKETT was the son of JUDAH and
SARAH HACKETT.

JUDAH(4) HACKETT, b. Salisbury, MA 24 Aug 1759; m. 14 Dec 1780 Epping,
NH, Sarah Elkins. He was son of Judah(3) and Mary (Gooddale) Hackett,
(Judah(2) William(1) Hacketts. Siblings of JUDAH(4) HACKETT were: John
Hackett, Hannah Hackett and Abel Hackett. So it would be reasonable to
assume that Judah(4) and Sarah Hackett named a son John after his brother
John.

There was also a Judah HACKETT of Tamworth, NH, Carroll County. This is
where Hezekiah Hackett lived also, and was the "excellent shot, was kept
busy hunting for the game for the food of the rest" The rest of the
settlers were cutting trees, hewing logs and rolling up the log cabins
for their future homes one after another. Hezekiah and his brother
Ebenezer Hackett were large, vigorous, active men of Tamworth, NH. They
settled on Hackett Hill thus named after them. An Ephriam Hackett was of
this place and was involved with town government. Ensign Allen Hacket was
of Tamworth, NH as was Charles Hackett in 1782 and probably sons of the
heretofore mentioned Hacketts.

Let's go back to Bristol County, Berkley, MA, which boarders Dighton, MA,
which boarders Taunton, MA. In the written records of that town, Berkley,
I find Eldora A. HACKETT, b. 14 March 1873 to Myron H. and Lydia H.
Hackett.

Jumping around again:
Colonel Joseph Badger, Esq. Muster Roll for men raised to New York from
Strafford County, NH, #21 Ephraim HACKETT, Priv'e. Mustered 25 Sep 1776.

Census 1800 NH: Ebenezer Hacket (but spelled Haggett, however, it's been
researched and is Hacket) and he was the husband of Abigail Emery
heretofore mentioned earlier today in another e-mail to
. Their children also named in the 1800 census
were: Robert Hacket, Stephen Hacket and James Hacket heretofore gen.
given today, and Ebenezer, Jr. All were of Dunbarton, NH. All had wives
and children, while Ebenezer Hackett, SR. had wife and prob. his or her
mother in same household, OR a daughter. This JAMES HACKETT is the one
who married Mary Ring in 1789. The 1790 census ten years earlier has for
Dunbarton, NH Ebenezer HACKET with wife, one son and two daughters. Also
Daniel HACKETT with wife, four sons and two daughters.

The 1790 census in Epping, NH has Judah HACKET with wife, one son, one
daughter. Also Judah HACKET with wife, one son and two daughters.

1790 Census in Sandwich, NH has Elisha HACKET with wife one son and two
daughters. Also George Hacket with wife (maybe children all girls if so
at this time, but the copy I have didn't get all of the page. Also John
Hacket, with wife one son and prob. daughters.

Census in Tamworth 1790 had only Hezekiah HACKETT listed with wife, three
sons and two daughters.

1790 Census in Maine, town of Lewistown and the Gore adjoining were: Jude
HACKET alone and Ezekiel HACKET, jr. with wife and son under 16.

1800 Census in Strafford County, New Hampton, NH all with wives and
families, Ezra Hackett, Moulton Hackett and Ephraim Hackett.

For another Hackett friend and Hackett descendant, Roberta "Bobbie" from
Bow, NH: this New Hampton, NH census has the Dows (from which Ezra
Hackett was married in your Dow line), re, Jonathan Dow Progenitor to
Jonathan Dow the 2nd, 3rd and 4th. Also Levi Dow. Just thought I'd throw
this in for you Roberta.

I think I got just enough left in me today to slip in a few Irish
Pedigrees of "The Irish Nation" by John O'Hart. I'll only give the
partial genealogies of the families that the Hacketts married into. {By
the way I'm following the "Bolling" family of Petersburg, VA and John
Rolfe who m. Pochhontas (or Matoa) on 1 April 1613. It may be that a
Hackett is related to the Rolfes and may be a descendant through the
Rolfes who are related to Pochhontas the beautiful Indian girl of VA who
removed to England and had John Rolfe. Anyway, the Whittiers came over on
the same ship as some Rolfes to New England, and William(2) Hackett, m.
Hannah Whittier, and I sense a Whittier may have married a Rolfe and may
go back to the John Rolfe who married Pochhontas}...anyway:

Donogh Reagh of Tpperary, proprietor of Spring House m. 27 July 1660
Elizabeth HACKETT, daughter of Edmond HACKETT of Ballyskillan, county of
Tpperary Ireland.

Margaret Mulcahy of Killkeany county of Waterford, Ireland m. Denis
HACKET of Clashgannee, Ireland.

Edmund Purcell son and heir of his father William Purcell, William
grandson of Redmund Purcell of Kilneboliskehannagh, Ireland. Edmund
Purcell was unm. in 1632 at age 21. He was the last possessor of Esker,
which was confiscated in 1653, and passed into the possession of Colonel
JAMES HACKET, of the Parliamentary Army. {Not the Colonel James Hackett
of this Country}.

GOODNIGHT!

Gary I.(10) Hackett
