Here is a good one if you can connect up, as the ELDER JOHN CRANDALL of
RI and his descendants are all done genealogically and historically by
John Cortland Crandall, New Woodstock, NY 1949. #197 referrence. These
Crandalls CLAIM they can trace their line back to Adam & Eve, which seems
rather doubtful, but they certainly go back to the Kings of Scotland, re,
Malcom I, II & III. It's all laid out in the genealogy 1 - 22nd
generation, where we find Elder John Crandall, Progenitor in America, son
of Elizabeth Drake and Sir John Crandall. Elder Crandall, it is claimed,
was disowned because he left the English church and became a Baptist.
However...

In the 8th generation from Elder Crandall, was #2937: DAVID HARRIS(8)
CRANDALL, (Benjamin P., Rev. Daniel, Peter, Wibur, Samuel, Samuel, Elder
John), of Centerdale, RI, b. Moncton New Brunswick Canada 24 April 1863;
d. 17 Nov1926; m. Pawtucket, RI, 8 Jan 1891 NELLIE GRANT, b. Prince
Edwards Isle, 1868, daughter of Anthony and MARY (HACKETT) Grant. David
Harris(8) Crandall was a Baptist member of the machinests Union and an
Orangeman. He died in Columbus, SC. Issues: Benj. Peter, dy; Frank
Leonard; Havey George; Percy Elmer who was murdered by Jesse McNish who
had intended to kill his own brother!; Randall; Arthur, dy; Thelma Olive,
m. Richard K. Barney of Bradenton, FL.

Now all we have to do is find out who MARY HACKETT of Prince Edwards Isle
was daughter of in 1868. {I don't know}.

If you wish to find out if the Crandalls are traced or can be traced back
to Adam & Eve find: the pamphlet "The Book of Adam" by Harold King Bowen,
428 Vista Ave., Pasadena, 8, CA. However, remember this Crandall
genealogy was done in 1949 and it's my humble opinion, Bowen, "he don't
live there any more" like in the song of the same line!
