Hi!
This is for Gary Hackett who posted info. regarding New Hampshire Hacketts.
I am researching my friend's HACKETT line in NH. ALLEN HACKETT according to
the Lenox Twp (p.85 R) Macomb Co., Michigan 1850,1860 Census indicates ALLEN
was age 55 putting his birthdate ca 1795, b. NH. His wife was RUTH J. (last
name unk.) age 67 b. in MA. One known child, a daughter ELLENOR age 32 b. NY
and her son Allen age 5 b. MI is shown in the 1850 Census. (ELLENOR HACKETT
married WM. COLE of NY, ancestors of Rehoboth, MA). The 1860 Census Lenox Twp
(p.541) Shows ALLEN HACKET (sic) age 64, farmer, b. NH. (RUTH J. died bef.
1860) ELONER COLE age 42 b. NY is shown next, then her 3 children: Allen 14,
b. MI, DANIEL age 9 b. MI (my friend's line), Ruth age 5, b. MI. WILLIAM has
gone back to NY by this time, prob. divorced.
Some notes I found regarding the HACKETT FAMILY which I hope someone can help
me with: 1640 when the HACKETT family was estab. in the American Colonies by
WILLIAM HACKETT and (p.94) his wife, Sarah Bernard. Their son, Ebenezar
HACKETT, married Hannah Ring, and one of their sons, EPHRAIM HACKETT, married
DOROTHY ALLEN.. Because of her surname of ALLEN, I was curious as to
whether this might be the right line??
I am thinking in the direction that ALLEN'S father is an EPHRAIM HACKETT found
in the 1790 Census Stratford Co., New Hampton Town. Also noted are: Hezekiah
HACKETT (Tamworth Town.). In Rockingham Co. are 2 poss: James or Wm both of
Exeter.
