>Do you think the Hacketts of Madison Co., KY were related??
Since you don't have internet access, here is a copy of paste of census

After the 1840 census, all the Hackett's left. To answer your question,
yes, I do think they are all probably related. I will attempt to
summarize how I came to this conclusion since this is actually my line:)
First, as you can see, in 1790 Bazil and Peter were both listed, one in
VA and Peter in KY already. I believe that they were brothers. and
that their father was one of the other Hacketts listed in 1790 VA. The
reason I think P and B were brothers is because 1), in the 1820 census,
they were both in the same age range, and 2) because I am descended from
Peter and a man who did the genealogy on this line way back in the early
1900s wrote in a packet of papers in my grandmothers possession that
Peter was a Rev. War vet from VA and deserted the army escaping to KY.
Now, I have not proved the Rev. War bit, but i don't doubt the VA part.
I think people get their stories mixed up over the years and that in my
experience, people try to glamourize events, but leave the places as is
for the most part. My personal opinion is that Peter scouted out the
land in KY and then between 1790-1810 sent for his brother, Bazil, to
come live in the same town (there is no 1800 census for KY). Now,
between 1792-1794, Peter had a son named John who I believe i the son in
the 1820 census listed as between 16-26. This leads me to believe that
Jacob in the 1810 census and Wm. in the 1820 census are also son's of P,
but maybe B. Since J appears before W does, I think that J is the
oldest of 9 children of Peter (which sounds like the amount he had that
guy wrote, but can't remember), W is the 2nd oldest, and then John. By
1830, P and B had disappeared alltogether from KY , but Jane comes into
the picture. To me, this looks like the widow of either Peter or Bazil.
By 1840, only Jacob was left which leaves me to think that Jane died and
W. either died or moved on out of KY. In 1850, they had disappear
completely. That is my assumption in a rather large nutshell:). This
is not an airtight scenario, there are a few holes in it. There WAS a
Wm. in the 1810 census of KY in Fayette Co. and after that he had
disappeared, but in 1820 there was a new Wm. in Madison. it's pretty
likely that Wm. moved from Fayette to Madison co., so I'm not sure how
he is related, Also, what happened to John? he disappeared! I know he
was married in Jessamine Co. Jan 20, 1816, and supposedly born in
Fayette Co., but he is nowhere to be found until 1850 in IL. There is
a Capt. John in Franklin Co., KY 1840 but I don't think it is him (he
would have been almost 50 as well as his wife, but the household only
lists 2 men, 1 over 60, 1 between 40-50, and 1 woman over 60. They
could be his father and mother, but his wife would not be listed and she
didn't die til 1859). So, what do you think? any comments on this? I
actually would appreciate any feed back and ideas. This is the part of
genealogy I love, figuring out the relation through deduction. I know
it's not always right, but it sure is fun for me!:) (but then again, I
do logic problems for fun instead of cross word puzzles, hehe) Well,
I'll sign off for now and hope to hear from you soon:)
