Two excerpts from the Newfoundland Ancestor 14,3 (Fall 1998)

1. From Leslie A Winsor's research of wills at Provincial Archives of
Newfoundland and Labrador.
1815 10 14 Fol G03, Page 213. Mary Hackett of St. John's, widow of William
Hackett, late of St. John's, Planter, deceased and John Hackett of St.
John's, Planter, the cousin of the said William Hackett, deceased, and James
Lane of St. John's, taylor (sic). Mary Hackett & John Hackett adms. of the
estate & effects of William Hackett of Killenaule, Co Tipperary, late of St.
John's, Planter. Value of estate - 1200 English Pounds.

2. From Lovell's 1871 Directory, English Harbour East (a small fishing
community on Newfoundland's South Coast)
Hacket John, fisherman
Hacket Joseph, planter
Hacket Thomas, planter
Hacket William, planter

Permission to post the preceding was obtained from Mr. Winsor and the
Newfoundland Ancestor. I can provide the address for a copy of the will.

I am trying to find the link between these Hacketts and Tobias Hackett b.
Lanespark, Killenaule, Co. Tipperary c 1823, m. Sarah Cole b. Co. Tipperary
c 1830, d Brigus, Newfoundland Aug 8, 1888. Tobias d. Brigus, Nov 21, 1890.
