Hi Sandy:) I am wondering if you have joined the Hackett list? I am
the listowner and this line actually does sound familiar to me. My John
Hackett was actually supposedly born in 1791 in KY (forgot the county)
and his father is supposed to be from VA. I have been told his father
was Peter (there was a Peter Hackett in the 1790 census of KY) but I
don't know if John stayed in KY or what. Here is the VA 1790 census
info:

*=Hacket
County | Given name | #Whites | #Blacks | #dwellings| Oth.
buildings | Page |
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Greenbrier
Nelson* 109
Nansemond Redmon* 1 3 --
-- 57
Albemarle Martin 2 -- 1
1 80
Augusta Baissell* 1 0 --

Caroline Martin 1 4 --

Caroline Thomas 1 5 --

On the VA homepage, it says that Botetourt Co. was formed in 1772 and
also on the Botetourt Co., page, Lynette Hackett Coulter
<> has a Hackett ancestor in VA (doesn't say who
or where), you might want to get in touch with her.

Giles Co., was formed in 1806 from Montgomery, Monroe (now in West
Virginia), and Tazewell and in 1808 Wythe Co was added.
(info at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~vagiles/1806.html)

There was a John Hackett listed as a Rev. War vet who settled in Giles
Co. (http://www.rootsweb.com/~vagiles/revwar.html)

Actually, that Rev. War vet makes me wonder if that is related to my
John at all, supposedly in a book my grandma has, John is supposed to be
the son of Peter who served in the Rev. War in VA and deserted the army
and ran to KY. I wonder if possibly Peter and your John are brothers?

Let me know what you think. I am also sending a copy of this message to
the Hackett list incase there is someone on the list who can help you or
both of us. You also should email Howard Johnston <> as
I believe he has a fairly large Hackett database. He has been on the
list from the get-go and has been a tremendous help to our list
members. Good luck.
