This is my roll call entry, which I have hesitated to do because I
am afraid people will not read my posted request and will contact me about
unrelated Hacketts.
These are Irish Hacketts [and as someone said once, there are a lot
in Ireland] who were in Ireland for many years and never immigrated to the
USA. They have been Church of Ireland [Protestant, Episcopal] since at
least 1700. They lived in Co. Offaly, having come up from Tipperary around
1700. The line I know about were landowners and sometimes clergy or in the
military. They intermarried with Nethercotes, Whitfields, and Glanvilles,
also Church of Ireland families. Most of their given names were
traditional Anglo-Irish names, nothing striking.
When married daughters and a few sons emigrated, they went to
Australia, South Africa, and some to western Canada. I am looking for
other descendants and would be glad to share data, most of which is
published.
Please do not email me about other Irish Hacketts in other counties
or in the US or of other religions. I do not mean to be rude but do not
have the time to repeat what I said above. This is all I know. Thank you
for your time. Elizabeth W. Knowlton
