Subject: [HACKETT-L] Important from the listowner...
Date: Sun, 19 Apr 1998 12:34:21

Hello everyone. I had previously thought some of the problems on these
lists were gone, but with people subscribing all the time, I guess they
will never go away. This is a reminder of some of the things that I have
decided I will try to send out every few months...for now on the subject
will be "from the listowner...how to post".

Basically, in the past 2 weeks, I have had to redirect about 50% of the
posts that are going to all my lists because people are sending them to the
wrong address. Right now I will say the address that you use to subscribe
is NOT the address to send posts. This is the same for ALL rootsweb email
lists. If the address has "-request" (without the ""), it means that
address is ONLY for subscribe and unsubscribe commands (along with a few
others that I will talk about in future posts). It is really important
that you read those welcome messages..they are there for a reason. If you
read them, you should know about this already and it should not be a
problem. Below are the addresses you do send the posts to according to
whatever list you belong to:

These are the addresses you send posts to, no matter if you are subscribed
to the -D format or not. Also, note that you are only supposed to send
them to the list to which you are subscribed. If you are subscribed to the
Barringer list, don't send it to the Coventry list too, etc. Don't get me
wrong, I don't mind redirecting them every once in awhile, but it's to the
point where I am doing that at least 3 times a day now and every time it's
someone new. Also, do NOT send your posts to me...use the addresses above.
Please note that the CAPS in the message are for emphasis only, I'm not
yelling at you:) I have to study for a midterm today so I will email the
lists later for the word of the week. If any of you have suggestions for
the "word of the week", please email me, I have a seperate folder for
suggestions that I just started because I'm running out of ideas. Good
luck to all of you in your research.
